Message way to show comeraderie with our fallen heroes. The cemetary is a beautiful setting. Disrespect would be driving on a grave, posing on a headstone or racing through the grounds.

BTW the Victorians I refer to were not in a foreign country. The use of cemetaries as public parks was common in the US through the 1930's in most major and many smaller US cities. Fountains and ponds are common to this day.
